Viebæltegaard, as it was named in 1933 when the working institution with department of support and hospital was established. In 1974 it stopped as an institution and was given to the Museum of Svendborg and in this event it was preserved. There are still active workshops where there's produced mats.

Viebæltegård consists of four wings:

the east wing contains archives of navigation and the archive of the history of the city of Svendborg plus office of administration.

In the north wing is installed an old apartment as one would look like in the fifties. There is also a classroom and a workshop for mats and a comemmorative room for the sick-benefit associations.

On the first floor in the south wing is the museum of poor where one can see how the poorest people of the city was treated. Al is preserved as it originally appeared. On the first and second floor is a permanent exhibition on the history of the danish children homes: 'Du skal ikke tænke på din mor og far'. Read more at www.boerne.nu (in danish).

On the third floor a doctors office from Hesselager(small town on south funen) has been installed.
