Tved church
Tved kirkevej 1A

Tved church
The church consists of a roman nave with late gothic expansions: longhouse chancel, transepts plus a west tower. Of the roman building, erected of travertine stone and granite boulder, is only parts of the nave's longwall with rests of reliefs and roundarches wallblinds remaining, while all other original details are gone. In late gothic time the chancel was expanded and transepts and the west tower where added. All made of granite boulder and tiles and with blinding gables whereof the eastern gable of the tower has big circular blinds which resembles the type used on southern sjaelland. The transepts have crossing vaults while the chancel and nave have five eightpartet vaults.

By the kings letter of 30 september 1554 Tved church was ordered to be demolished and the people of the parish directed to The church of our Lady in Svendborg. But the citizens addressed the king requesting to retain their church. In 1558 the order was withdrawn whereafter Tved parish was annexed with Skaarup parish. In 1591-1603 it was its own parish again. It was then united with Skaarup parish once again untill 1738 whereafter it was independant again until 1812, following annex with Skaarup parish untill 1842 and hereafter independant again.
